Wow, it’s been such a long time since I’ve written a blog!! Please know I have been plenty busy growing myself, expanding the reach of my work and offerings.
I am just finishing up my last class of my second year of advanced chakra study with renowned teacher/healer, Cyndi Dale, and also a chakra class with one of my most revered chakra teachers, Anodea Judith.
I am always deepening myself as I am committed to my own personal healing and growth which allows me to hold a very deep, sacred and safe space for your transformation.
I know, you’re probably wondering about that title!! I feel ya!! Hear me out!!
I had a great day today!! My morning started with a healthy smoothie made with Flax Seed Milk, VegaOne Protein Powder and wild, organic blueberries. I went to the gym where I did 30 minutes of cardio and worked on my sexy shoulders in the weight room!! LOL
Came home, took a nice, hot bath, gave a fabulous 90-minute massage/energy work treatment, had a couple of meetings, a couple more clients; responded to emails and returned phone calls. Holy smokes this life of being an entrepreneur can be exhausting!! I wouldn’t change it for anything!! Read more
2 lbs of organic sweet potatoes washed and cut into 1” cubes (No, I don’t peel them)
2 – 3 inch piece of fresh organic ginger peeled and minced
2 organic diced onions
1 tsp coriander
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp cumin
Dash of cayenne pepper
Salt & pepper
1/3 c olive oil
½ cup fresh chopped organic cilantro
Place diced sweet potatoes and onion in roasting pan. Give them a toss. Sprinkle with coriander, turmeric, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper.
Drizzle with olive oil. Toss everything to coat.
Bake at 400 for 30 to 40 minutes. Test to be sure potatoes are cooked to your desired consistency.
Toss with cilantro and serve.
6 cups of chopped organic romaine lettuce
2 cups of organic raw cashews
4 cloves of garlic
2 heaping tablespoons of Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons organic lemon juice
½ – 1 cup milk of your choice
Salt and Pepper to taste
Nutritional Yeast Flakes
1-2 Anchovies (optional)
Soak the cashews for 2 hours in water. Drain and rinse. In a blender, combine the cashews, garlic, mustard, lemon juice, salt and pepper and ½ cup of milk. Blend on high speed until creamy. You may want to add more milk depending on the consistency you prefer. Sometimes I do throw in an anchovy or two –
Place the romaine lettuce in a large bowl, cover with dressing, toss. Top with croutons and use nutritional yeast flakes in place of cheese. Delicious and nutritious!!
For the last year, I have repeatedly had this intuition about adding a Professional Development piece to my Adventures. If you know me, you know that I really value and trust my intuition. I kept getting the feeling that women are trying to assert themselves in the world differently.
Heavens is all I can say! We are in some WILD times. Mother Earth is clearing out lots of old energies, and not very quietly. So much chaos and devastation around us and within us. My heart goes out to all the people affected by the hurricanes, fires, and earthquakes. Every energy holds a polarity. There is lots of opportunity here to rebuild things, including ourselves, differently.
I feel like we are being asked to take a long, hard look at ourselves, our priorities, our relationships, what we value in society, culture and within. Where’s your connection to your heart in all of this? Do you feel like you have lost it somewhere along the way?
A Pooch Named Bubba, a Broken Heart, a Yoga Community
Holy crap, last week was tough! My son, Kevin, rescued Bubba, an 85 lb. bulldog mix about 2 years ago. This guy was the sweetest dog; happy, talkative, soulful and loving. Bubba was my first grandchild; OH how I loved this boy. Bubba became ill at the beginning of August; a trip to the vet reassured us he had severe allergies and Kennel Cough. We administered his daily dose of Claritin and 10 days of antibiotics. Bubba wasn’t rebounding. He couldn’t bark, eat his dry food, and was very lethargic. I began cooking soft foods for him. If you know me, any excuse to cook and feed someone is part of my passion and purpose!
Kevin brought Bubba back to the vet last Tuesday. Bubba never did well at the vet and had to be sedated to be examined. A small dose of sedation was administered due to Bubba’s condition. About an hour later, Kevin received a phone call. Bubba became anxious being examined, stopped breathing and was dead. Kevin was beyond emotional, in shock, despair, and disbelief. I left my meeting to be with him. We shed our gut-wrenching tears, trying to make sense out of what had happened; to no avail. Read more
One of the best things any of us can do is take better care of ourselves. In our crazy, hectic, fast-paced life, it can become challenging to take the time to properly care for ourselves in mind, body, and spirit. Learn to make self-care a priority. When you are full, everyone in your life benefits. Here are my 5 simple and easy go to’s when I need relief:
1. Guided Meditation
Lock yourself up and away from the world. Put your earplugs in and go on a journey. Guaranteed to make you feel more relaxed and refreshed to tackle what’s next.
2. Deep Breathing
Yep, that simple. Sit up nice and straight in your chair. Close your eyes, place one hand over your belly and one hand over your heart. Take some long, deep, slow breaths in and out through your nose – about 3 minutes of this will completely reset your nervous system. You will feel both calm and energized!
3. Take a Walk
Get out and take a brisk 10-minute walk. Take in the nature around you, feel the air, swing your arms. The outdoors will leave you feeling refreshed and grounded.
4. Take a Bath
A hot bath with some sea salt or Epsom salts, 5-10 drops of lavender oil to relax you…….. light a candle…………instant luxury!!
Blast your favorite song and dance like a maniac…….I love this one!!! Dancing completely releases tension and you will feel so free after you bust a move!!
I’m not asking you to find hours………try just a few minutes a day to begin. You’ll get the hang of it, crave more and in short order will feel how much of a difference it makes. Here’s to your self-care!
